Floydilou - Lifestyle Change Maker
We all have defining moments in our lives that make us who we are today. One of my most impactful moments was hearing the pilot shout out, "Mayday Mayday. We have engine failure. We're going down. We're going down!". I was the passenger in a single engine airplane. Surviving a plane crash in my late 20s was a gift.
You see, my father had passed away only a few months prior to that crash. Yes, he was looking down on me. He had recently retired from 40 years of hard labour and was excited to start living his life. I was so angry. He had sacrificed so much for his family and never
complained once. It was finally his time to enjoy the fruits of his labour. He never got that chance. My dad made sure he gave me that second chance. With these two events so close together, it was a clear message to me not to live my life with 'woulda, coulda, shoulda' and to live a life that was joyous NOW!...not in 40yrs. It also made me realize I needed to retire in my 40's because there was so much to experience in this world other than 40 yrs of a 9 to 5 mundane job, go home for dinner, watch a couple of hours of t.v., work an extra day of overtime and only have one day to recoup...to do it all over again.
Everybody thought I was crazy when I would say I am retiring at 40. How was a waitress without a University degree and no savings or investments going to retire at 40? "You're such a dreamer, Floydilou" were words I heard from those who loved me and wanted to protect me. In my late 20's and 30's my education came from running a home based business. I delved into reading books such as Rich Dad Poor Dad and Think and Grow Rich. I went to many leadership and business conferences. I participated in countless teleclasses. I became a student of those who had created great wealth. I was mentored by them. I coached with them. I surrounded myself with those who knew that being a 'big dreamer' is a good thing as long as you have a plan to achieve it.
Now, it's my turn to help you escape your limited belief story that you tell yourself. Allow me to hold that vision you want for yourself until you can believe it too.
What I believe
That each and everyone of us can go from ordinary to extraordinary. That living a better lifestyle is easy. Change is good.
I don't have to be in front of it or under it or around it. I definitely want to be IN IT!
I love anything that has been transformed with ingenuity; A room, a piece of furniture, an object.
I love anything that looks like you spent a million buck's but you didn't.
I love traveling and exploring.
I love being on stage speaking or performing.
